Job summary

Fifth Star Care Management seeks a Director of Nursing (DON) in Virginia to lead all nursing services, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive quality care for residents. The DON will shape policies, supervise staff, and collaborate with administration to meet resident needs.

Responsibilities include overseeing QAA activities, staffing, payroll-related matters, and interdepartmental coordination. The role requires RN licensure in VA and proven leadership in geriatric settings.

Qualifications

• RN degree from an accredited program and Virginia RN license.
• Minimum two years in a supervisory role in a hospital or extended care facility.
• At least two years of geriatric nursing experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, implement, and coordinate all nursing services within the Nursing Department to ensure high-quality care and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures, setting goals and objectives; ensure resident care standards are met.
• Communicate nursing department needs and achievements to administration for continuity of quality care.
• Lead the Quality Assurance and Assessment (QAA) Committee; audit data and participate in meetings as directed by Administration.
• Maintain staffing levels by overseeing recruitment, hiring, orientation, evaluations, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure nursing department personnel records, payroll changes, and evaluations are up-to-date; foster team communication.
• Coordinate employee health tasks, TB testing, probation periods, and benefits with Personnel.
• Oversee use of nursing equipment and tracking of resident charges; report to Business Office each month.
• Coordinate nursing with other departments, visitors, and volunteers for seamless operations.
• Review job roles annually and pursue ongoing professional development.
