Job summary

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Monroe, an 82-bed acute inpatient behavioral health facility in Monroe, LA, seeks an experienced Director of Nursing to lead nursing services across the campus.

The DON will ensure high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational performance, while recruiting and developing a skilled nursing team and collaborating with physicians and hospital leadership to support safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; MSN oversight; Master’s preferred.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in Louisiana.
• Experience in acute psychiatric management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct leadership and oversight to nursing and direct care staff.
• Ensure care aligns with standards of care, policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Maintain appropriate nursing staffing levels based on census, acuity, and requirements.
• Develop and maintain nursing schedules; address staffing and coverage needs.
• Provide clinical leadership and assist with clinical judgment, physician communication, and complex patient care situations.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required.
• Recruit, develop, mentor, train, and retain a high-performing nursing team.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
• Complete staff performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
