Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Vice-President of Hospital Services and.or the Administrative Director, has 24 hour, 7 days a week responsibility for overall management of a nursing unit; make decisions that require expert clinical judgment; and collaborates with physicians, families, and other departments. Interviews, hires, evaluates, and monitors staff compliance with policies, procedures, and Quality Improvement standards. Conducts ongoing patient care evaluations. Under the general direction of the Vice-President of Hospital Services and/or the Administrative Director, has 24 hours, 7 days a week responsibility for overall management of a nursing unit; makes decisions that require expert clinical judgment; and collaborates with physicians, families, and other departments. Prepares, submits, and manages within approved annual budget. MSN preferred.LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for practice in the state of Tennessee. Responsible for Continuing Education Units annually. BLS certification must be obtained within orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position. Certification in specialty area preferred.EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in current practices and techniques in specific area of clinical expertise as acquired through clinical experience.
