Department Profile:
The 7-1 Ortho Neuro Unit at Duke Regional Hospital is comprised of a 40 -bedded floor with Orthopedics and Neuroscience specialties. This is a fast paced state of the art orthopedic and neurosurgery unit. The unit uses enhanced recovery after surgery principles to both minimize narcotic usage and get the patient home and back to baseline as quickly as we can. The majority of our patients stay 6-24 hours on the unit, in that time they are provided for by a tremendous interdisciplinary team of nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, care managers, pharmacists and doctors. The nursing unit utilizes Epic for the EMR, Omnicell for the medications, and Pyxis for the patient supplies. It's the team work that makes the unit soar, and it is that same team work that the staff relishes and keeps them together. Eager to add likeminded motivated nurses to our staff.
