Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a Nursing Care Assistant I for its float pool in Durham, NC. This role supports patient care alongside RNs/LPNs across Duke University Hospital and affiliated units.

Shifts are multiple (day, night, weekend); staff float between Duke University Hospital and Duke Regional or Duke Raleigh as needed. Requires NA I certification and BCLS completion by orientation end.

Qualifications

• Nursing Assistant I (NA I) certification with NC DHHS; no substantiated findings.
• BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by end of new hire orientation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance.
• Obtain and record patient data for medical records; inform RN/LPN.
• Administer basic care including feeding, bathing, hygiene and mobility; assist with comfort.
• Assist with physical exams by positioning patients and changing dressings.
• Take and record vital signs, I&O, and report changes in condition.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients.
• Document care in EHR and communicate with team; follow safety procedures.
