Job summary

Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage is seeking a patient-care helper to support the bedside RN and charge nurse and ensure a safe, secure environment for patients, families, and staff. This role emphasizes clear communication and adherence to hospital protocols within a team-based setting.

You will assist with maintaining a hazard-free environment, support patient-focused care, and participate in Providence's mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality health services across Alaska.

Qualifications

• Medical terminology coursework or equivalent educ/experience
• Successful completion of hospital medical terminology test within 90 days of hire
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Under direct supervision this position is accountable to the bedside RN and charge nurse to facilitate a safe and secure environment for the patient, family and providers in the department in completion of the duties delegated to them for the shift and maintaining clear communication between the needs of the patient through the RN and Charge Nurse. These activities focus on maintaining a safe, hazard free, clean environment which facilitates patient focused care.

Required Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Medical Terminology course, or equivalent educ/experience
• Successful completion of hospital medical terminology test within 90 days of hire.
• Within 30 days of hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
• 6 months of Health care experience.
