Job summary

Baptist Health System in San Antonio, TX seeks a patient care support team member who under RN supervision provides basic nursing care and helps improve the patient experience across units. You’ll join a dedicated team delivering compassionate care from admission to discharge, with training and career development opportunities.

Eligible for sign-on bonus in some cases. Must have minimum education, certification requirements, and a commitment to patient-centered service in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course preferred.
• Minimum 6 months in healthcare or knowledge of basic medical terms encouraged.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire; BLS within 60 days if not current.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, provides basic nursing care for assigned patients.
• Care for multiple units including pediatric, maternity, and med/surg.
• Complete established competencies within introductory period.
• Support patient comfort and safety and assist with routine tasks.

Job Summary

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus

Under the direction/supervision of an RN, provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients

General Nursing Units cares for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff.

Special Care Areas cares for patients from age 15 years through adult with high risk conditions by clinically competent nursing staff.

Maternal Child Units: Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition by staff who are clinically competent in maternity care.

Nursery care includes care for newborn until discharge status by clinically competent staff.

Pediatric clinically competent staff provides care to patients from neonate through age of eighteen.

GI Lab Unit cares for toddlers, beginning age 24 months, through adult by clinically competent staff.

Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit cares for adult patients and family with holistic approach to emotional problems by clinically competent nursing staff.

Emergency Unit provides care to presenting patients of all ages by clinically competent staff in pediatric and high- risk adult care.

Surgical Services provides care to patients from neonate to geriatric.

Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Satisfactorily completed a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 6 months in healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):

• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained with 60 days of hire or transfer to position
