Job Summary And Responsibilities
As our Nursing Assistant (NA), you will perform essential direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse while actively pursuing your Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Every day you will provide comprehensive patient care, including bathing, oral care, feeding, ambulation, and monitoring vital signs. You will also manage duties such as inventory, documentation, clerical tasks, dietary assistance, light housekeeping, and computer input to support the nursing unit’s operational needs.
To be successful in this role, you must possess strong basic patient care skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective collaboration within the nursing team to ensure optimal patient well-being and a supportive care environment.
- Perform and educate family members on restorative care functions such as ROM (AROM & PROM), ambulation assistance, eating assistance, ADL assistance, bowel & bladder training, and splint/brace/prosthesis placement and care. Lift, move, position, and transport patients using proper techniques and equipment. Measurements: observation, feedback, equipment condition, variance reports.
- Perform basic skills including patient hygiene (bathing, grooming, oral and perineal care, back rubs), documentation of baseline data (vital signs, intake and output), knowledge of mobility and precautions for orthopedic patients, skin care for immobilized patients, and infection control & prevention. Measurements: observation, feedback, chart documentation.
- Document restorative functions performed and record resident and/or family responses. Record other pertinent information clearly, accurately, and timely. Measurements: documentation, feedback.
- Report pertinent information to appropriate persons or positions, including information needed for IDT/Care Planning conferences. Measurements: documentation, feedback.
- Participate in continuing education in areas applicable to the position and patient population. Measurements: education records.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School GED or High School Graduate
- Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program
- Six (6) months recent long‑term care facility experience as a Restorative Nurse Assistant – RNA
- Certified Nursing Assistant: CA
- Basic Life Support – BLS
