Essentia Health’s Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN seeks a compassionate nursing assistant for a casual role. You will provide direct patient care under supervision, including hygiene, feeding support, vital signs, and safety checks.

Flexible schedule with weekend requirements and a mix of Day/Eve/Night shifts, as needed, in a peaceful hospice setting. Must have BCLS and meet one of the listed nursing assistant qualifications.

Job Description:

Education Qualifications:

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.

• Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs

• Providing comfort care and other assistance

• Appropriately and safely transferring patients

• Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping

• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN

• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.

This position is a CASUAL position. Casual Requirements of Position:

• Work at least 32 hours every 6 weeks

• 8 of those hours must be on a weekend

• 8 of those hours must be on an 'off shift'

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Must meet ONE of the following requirements:

• 6 months of patient care experience

• Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program

• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program

• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry

Certification Requirements:

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from date of hire.
