Summary

Provides quality patient care under supervision of licensed nursing staff. Offers direct or indirect nursing care to patients from pediatrics to geriatrics in the hospital setting.

  • Provides personal care such as bathing, skin care, turning and positioning, and toileting needs.
  • Assists patients with meals, ambulation, and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Obtains and documents vital signs and reports abnormal results to the nurse.
  • Measures and records intake, output, height, and weight.
  • Participates in hourly rounds assessing pain, positioning, toileting needs, placement of personal items and call light, and VTE prophylaxis.
  • Communicates learning needs to charge nurse or nurse manager.
Qualifications
Nursing Assistant:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of approved nursing assistant training course (preferred).
  • Previous experience (preferred).
Patient Care Technician (PCT):
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of approved Nursing Assistant training course required.
  • RN students may be eligible for Student Nurse Technician opportunities with proof of coursework.
