Job Description

Nemours is seeking a Patient Care Technician (CICU) FULL-TIME to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida. Click Here to take a virtual tour.

Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed for kids, outpatient pediatric clinics, and several specialties previously unavailable regionally. A hospital built by families for families, Nemours combines the healing power of nature with healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to children in Central Florida and beyond. We also provide outpatient care across various clinics in the region.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, feeding, playing, etc.) and provide other patient care as directed.
  • Prepare rooms for patient admissions, ensuring cleanliness and proper equipment setup.
  • Participate in comfort rounds as applicable.
  • Perform vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN.
  • Record patient intake and output as directed by the RN.
  • Maintain adequate stock of equipment and supplies at established par levels.
  • Maintain sterile technique during formula preparation, following standards outlined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Use electronic medical records to document patient care.
  • Transport patients within the hospital and escort discharged patients to their vehicles.
  • Serve as receptionist for the unit, answering calls, greeting visitors, and managing software systems.
  • Participate in hospital and department education programs.
  • Adhere to Nemours Standards of Behavior.
  • Deliver supplies and reports to other units as needed.
  • Communicate patient needs effectively with other departments as delegated.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and hospital programs.
  • Attend regular unit/department meetings.
  • Accept feedback and follow directions from RNs, adjusting care accordingly.
  • Support family-centered care in all interactions.
  • Maintain professional appearance and use PPE appropriately.
  • Complete annual skills requirements.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Florida or successful completion of one full semester of nursing clinicals in an accredited program.
  • Preferred: at least one year of patient care experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
