Job summary

UPMC Shadyside is hiring a full-time Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician to join the Internal Medicine/Medical Teaching unit 3 Pav. Under RN supervision, you will deliver essential patient care and support daily unit operations.

Shifts rotate across day, evening, overnight, weekend and holidays, with 12-hour shifts and a mix of 8- and 12-hour shifts. A mandatory training course is required with full attendance.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: Assist with daily living activities under RN supervision; perform point-of-care testing; monitor vitals; Foley care.
• Environmental Maintenance: Ensure a safe, clean environment; manage beds and equipment.
• Supplies & Equipment Management: Acquire, distribute, and manage supplies and equipment; stocking and setup of patient care items.
• Communication & Collaboration: Provide feedback to RN; communicate with healthcare team; support unit activities.
• Documentation & Compliance: Document patient information; follow safety policies and standard precautions; assist with nourishment distribution.
• Continuous Improvement: Accept feedback; identify learning needs; participate in departmental changes.
• Emergency Response & Companionship: Respond to emergencies; provide one-on-one patient companionship.
