Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ James H Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center seeks a Nursing Assistant to support licensed nursing staff in outpatient and inpatient settings.

You will assist with basic patient care, hygiene, mobility, and daily activities under supervision, contributing to plan-of-care execution. Role requires the ability to communicate with patients and the healthcare team, meet physical demands, and participate in unit-level improvements.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship required; non-citizens may be appointed only when necessary
• One year above high school with nursing-related courses
• Completion of an intensive Nursing Assistant course may meet experience requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide and assist in oral hygiene and denture care
• Change linen of beds and assist with bedpans and urinals
• Assist with admission, discharge and transfers
• Promote patient independence and rehabilitation per plan of care
• Assist with teaching activities and reinforce patient education
• Handle reusable medical equipment and its processing locally
