Job summary

Crouse Health in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform daily care activities and support the patient care plan on the Neuroscience unit. The role includes assisting with bathing, dressing and vital signs, under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

The position offers a rotating day/evening schedule with competitive pay and shift differentials. Requires a high school diploma, patient care experience or RN coursework, and a BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of patient care experience, or current enrollment in an RN program with fundamentals completed.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire or within two weeks.

Crouse’s Neuroscience Unit consists primarily of patients with a diagnosis of stroke, however many of the patients have diagnoses related to respiratory, cardiac, diabetic and renal issues. The Neuroscience team is hiring a Nursing Assistant.

The Nursing Assistant performs daily care activities to help achieve the goals of the patient care plan as directed by the Registered Professional Nurse.

Pay Range: $20.15-$26.92/hour (based on experience).

Nursing Assistant Position Responsibilities

• Assists the patient with daily care activities including but not limited to bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulating, personal hygiene and taking of vital signs.
• Supports and actively contributes to the achievement of the patient's goals associated with the plan of care.
• Individualizes communication based on the needs of the patients and families.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have one year of patient care experience, or is currently attending an accredited Registered Nursing program and has successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing coursework.
• Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks after hire date.
