Job summary

UPMC Community Osteopathic is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Neuro/Med Surg Unit. This part-time, 24 hours per week role includes day/evening shifts with every 3rd weekend and every other holiday requirements.

The NA performs ADLs, assists with transfers, records documentation, and reports equipment issues under RN supervision. CNA preferred; CPR/BLS required within 30 days; high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of UPMC Nursing Assistant training.
• Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assures equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate department; communicates with other departments; participates in unit activities.
• Receives feedback and identifies learning needs; improves knowledge, skills, and performance.
• Communicates clearly with healthcare team; respects diversity and maintains patient safety.
• Performs UPMC Nursing Assistant core responsibilities including ADLs, vital signs, weights, I&O, telemetry, and urine tests.
• Maintains safe and clean environment; ensures supplies and equipment are available.
• Delivers patient nourishments, distributes mail, and assists with transport and meal delivery.
