Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital - Akron is seeking a Nursing Assistant for full-time night shifts (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) to support our post-ICU patients and critical illness recovery in Akron. You will assist with bathing, oral care, rounds, transport, and basic patient care under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing using basic care products and oral hygiene.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to treatment centers and assist with moving patients in/out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain cleanliness of instruments and equipment (bedpans, urinals, chairs).
• Keep patient rooms clean and stocked with supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Perform services for patients including bathing using basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding and care of hair.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of various instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients' rooms in clean and orderly condition.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED OR relevant work experience (3+ years).
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, certification as a nursing assistant or experience in a related field (i.e. medical assistant, actively enrolled RN student).
