Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Livingston, NJ seeks a Nursing Assistant II for the Medical Surgical Unit III at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. Part-time night shift (11:00 AM–7:00 AM) includes every other weekend and some holidays.

You will support RNs with vital signs, daily living activities, patient comfort, and safe care, while documenting in the EHR and following infection control practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CNA certification preferred or equivalent clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care including taking vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, bedside care (bathing, mouth care, skin care).
• Monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, respiration, temperature) to track patient health status.
• Document patient information accurately in EHR while maintaining confidentiality.
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans.
• Support emergency response with Basic Life Support (BLS) such as CPR when needed.
• Provide patient care appropriate to patients' age with sound judgment and care.
• Collaborate on the care plan from admission to discharge.

Pay Range: $21.37 - $26.58 per hour

Contract Type: Part-Time Night schedule from 11:00am to 7:00am, includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.


• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status


• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality


• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies


• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns


• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations


• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients


• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions


• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care


• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this NA opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a Part‑Time Night schedule from 11:00am to 7:00am and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
