Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is currently seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) at Clara Maass Medical Center in New Jersey. The role supports RNs with vital signs, mobility and personal care while maintaining patient safety and dignity.

You will assist with documentation in the EHR and participate in care planning for patients in the Post Intensive Care Unit-I. This full-time position offers a day shift, hourly status and a pay range of $21.37–$26.58 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Nursing assistant experience or CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs, perform EKGs, phlebotomy assistance, bedside care (bathing, mouth care, skin care).
• Monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, respiration, temperature).
• Document patient information accurately in EHR with confidentiality.
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies.
• Communicate with patients, families and providers to coordinate care plans.
• Provide BLS/CPR in acute situations when needed.
• Support patient care aligned with age-specific criteria and safety.
• Collaborate with the care team from admission to discharge.

As a Nursing Assistant(NA), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS,performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this NA opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a Full-Time Dayschedule from 7:00am to 3:00pmand includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
