Job summary

Be part of Essentia Health in Duluth, Minnesota as a Nursing Assistant in the 2004130 FLOAT POOL - MED SURG - SMMC HOSP. You will care for patients under RN supervision, assist with daily living activities, take vital signs, and help maintain a safe, comfortable environment.

Eligible candidates may have 6 months of CNA experience or complete Essentia Health Foundation training within 90 days. Shifts include day, evening, and night with weekend work and rotating 8-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• This position requires 32 hours every two weeks.
• FTE is 0.4 (part-time).
• Shift times include Day 6:00am-2:30pm, Evening 2pm-10:30pm, Night 10pm-6:30am.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 1 month from hire date.
• Hiring incentive up to $1,500 may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with personal hygiene and nutritional needs.
• Transfer patients safely and record vital signs.
• Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to support healing.

Education

Job Description:

Become part of Essentia’s accomplished team in Duluth, Minnesota on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior.

Education Qualifications:

Must meet one of the following requirements:

• 6 months of nursing assistant experience
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
• Enrollment into the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry

This position MUST be able to work the following:

• 32 hours every two weeks
• Every other weekend
• Rotating 8 Hour Shifts
• Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm
• Evening Shift: 2pm - 10:30pm
• Night Shift: 10pm - 6:30am

As a Nursing Assistant, you are responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to:

• Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs
• Providing comfort care and other assistance
• Appropriately and safely transferring patients
• Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.

Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $1,500

If qualified through the Essentia Health Foundation Course East Market (Excluding WI):
