Job summary

The Lexington VA Health Care System is hiring a Nursing Assistant for the Community Living Center. The incumbent will work a rotating 12-hour schedule within the two-divisional hospital complex and may be assigned to different campuses to meet patient care needs.

Clinical duties include basic nursing tasks, vital signs, ECG monitoring support, phlebotomy, and wound care under RN supervision. A strong emphasis on communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams is required.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship required; certain exceptions may apply per VA policy.
• Experience or education/training acceptable for NA position.
• English language proficiency required for speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist the RN with patient care and vital signs.
• Obtain ECGs and place leads properly for monitoring.
• Perform phlebotomy and simple wound dressings as needed.
• Rotate duty tours in the Long Term Care unit and other areas.
• Manage equipment specific to the Community Living Center.
