Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure: BLS required; new hires have 30 days to obtain BLS.
• Skills: Basic reading/writing, basic math, medical terminology, computer literacy, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients as delegated by the RN and completes activities of daily living.
• Vital Signs: may take and record vital signs, height/weight, oxygen saturation, report abnormalities.
• Intake and Output: collects specimens and records intake/output.
• Assists with Activities of Daily Living: personal care and ADLs.
• Clinical Procedures: performs basic procedures under supervision.
• Nutrition: assist with meal orders, tray setup, and feeding as needed.
• Safety: supports safety culture and implements safety interventions.
• Infection control: adheres to infection control policies.
• Sitter duties: assist as patient safety attendant after competency.
• Orientation: assist with orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
• Performs other unit-based duties as needed.
