Position Summary

Performs patient care under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
  • Provides routine treatments and maintains a safe, clean, and organized environment.
  • Ensures safety and security of patients, families, and staff.
  • Protects patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
  • Follows standard precautions, including handwashing between patients.
  • Assists with patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Records vital signs and fluid intake/output as directed.
  • Accurately documents patient information following policies.
  • Communicates safety concerns and patient condition updates to the RN.
  • Participates in handoff reports and hourly rounding.
  • Provides exceptional care to patients, families, and team members.
  • Demonstrates competency in assigned tasks and skills.
  • Maintains a clean and safe nursing unit.
  • Handles incoming calls, patient call lights, and guest requests.
  • Transports items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy).
  • May have limited access to medication storage areas.
  • Maintains regular attendance per policies and standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Supports and participates in changes and improvement activities.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards.
  • Uses time and resources efficiently.
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Provides care appropriate to the patient's age and developmental stage.
  • Assesses patient data and interprets information to meet individual needs.
Qualifications
Education/Training

High school diploma or equivalent. One year of nursing assistant experience or equivalent training (e.g., CNA, LPN, nursing graduate, EMT, or licensed medical personnel).

Licensure/Certification

Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Experience

One year of relevant healthcare experience within the past five years, or no experience required for certain training graduates.
