Nursing Assistant II - PCU Full Time Days

Position Summary

Performs patient care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
  • Provides routine treatments and maintains a safe, clean, and organized patient environment.
  • Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other healthcare team members.
  • Ensures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
  • Follows standard precautions, including handwashing between patients.
  • Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Records vital signs and other patient data as directed.
  • Documents pertinent patient information according to Orlando Health policies.
  • Communicates safety concerns and patient condition updates to the RN and team.
  • Participates in handoff reports and hourly rounding.
  • Provides exceptional service and care to patients, families, and team members.
  • Demonstrates competency in tasks and skills as defined by Orlando Health.
  • Maintains a clean and safe nursing unit.
  • Handles incoming calls, patient call lights, and guest requests.
  • Transports items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs).
  • May have limited access to medication storage areas.
  • Maintains punctual attendance in accordance with policies.
  • Complies with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Supports and participates in planned changes.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards.
  • Uses time and resources effectively.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-services as required.
  • Completes mandatory training.
  • Provides care based on principles of growth and development.
  • Assesses patient data and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
Qualifications
Education/Training

High school diploma or equivalent. One year of nursing assistant experience in the past five years or relevant training (see detailed options).

Licensure/Certification

Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

One year of relevant healthcare experience in the past five years, or no experience required for certain training graduates.
