Nursing Assistant II - PCU Full Time Days
Position Summary
Performs patient care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
- Provides routine treatments and maintains a safe, clean, and organized patient environment.
- Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other healthcare team members.
- Ensures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
- Follows standard precautions, including handwashing between patients.
- Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Records vital signs and other patient data as directed.
- Documents pertinent patient information according to Orlando Health policies.
- Communicates safety concerns and patient condition updates to the RN and team.
- Participates in handoff reports and hourly rounding.
- Provides exceptional service and care to patients, families, and team members.
- Demonstrates competency in tasks and skills as defined by Orlando Health.
- Maintains a clean and safe nursing unit.
- Handles incoming calls, patient call lights, and guest requests.
- Transports items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs).
- May have limited access to medication storage areas.
- Maintains punctual attendance in accordance with policies.
- Complies with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Supports and participates in planned changes.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards.
- Uses time and resources effectively.
- Attends staff meetings and in-services as required.
- Completes mandatory training.
- Provides care based on principles of growth and development.
- Assesses patient data and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
Qualifications
Education/Training
High school diploma or equivalent. One year of nursing assistant experience in the past five years or relevant training (see detailed options).
Licensure/Certification
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
Experience
One year of relevant healthcare experience in the past five years, or no experience required for certain training graduates.
