Job summary

The role requires at least 6 months of Nursing Assistant I experience at Advocate Health, a valid BLS certification within 45 days, and a state Nurse Aide registry in good standing.

Qualifications

• GED or HSED or High School Diploma required.
• Basic life support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 45 days.
• Nurse Aide in good standing with the State Registry.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measures and documents vital signs and patient data in EMR.
• Performs purposeful rounding and communicates observations to RN.
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge processes under RN supervision.
• Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Positions and transports patients using proper technique and assistive devices.
• Maintains skin integrity and provides needed supplies and appliances.
• May remove IVs/urinary catheters and assist with basic procedures under state regulations.
• Follows infection prevention policies and hand hygiene guidelines.
• Acts as a resource and preceptor; participates in orientation and process improvements.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care and growth/development awareness.
