Job summary

Prisma Health in Greenville Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support the General Medicine unit. You will contribute to patient comfort, safety, and daily living activities under RN supervision.

This role involves data collection, basic nursing procedures, and maintaining clean care environments on day shifts at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nursing assistant program preferred.
• No previous experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and hygiene, turns and repositions patients, and may transport and assist with walking.
• Take and record vital signs and report questionable values to RN.
• Prepare rooms, greet patients, and orient them to the unit.
• Collect specimens (urine, stool, sputum) and deliver to appropriate department.
• Complete documentation in EMR accurately and timely.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms, hallways, and supply areas; manage linen as needed.
• Perform point-of-care testing as trained and report lab values to RN.
• Assist with meals and provide snacks and supplements.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the collection of data related to patient status. Performance of basic nursing procedures. On-going collection and documentation of patient data. Assistance with treatments and procedures. Assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment.

Essential Functions

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene. Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance. May transport patients and assist with walking. Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal. Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated. Removing and reapplying anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
• Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV).
• Takes and records vital signs and with repeating questionable values.
• Prepares patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens. Delivers specimens to appropriate department as requested.
• Completes documentation in EMR in accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves. Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN. Reports lab values to RN.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
