Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant at the Oconee Memorial Hospital Medical/Surgical Nursing unit. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will collect data on patient status, perform basic nursing procedures, and document results, while assisting with treatments and maintaining care equipment.

You will support activities of daily living, assist with turns and transfers, help with meals, collect specimens, and ensure accurate EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of a nursing assistant program preferred.
• Experience: No previous experience required.

Responsibilities

• Under RN direction, collects data related to patient status and documents it.
• Performs basic nursing procedures and assists with treatments.
• Maintains patient care equipment and assists with ADLs, transfers, and mobility.
• Documents in EMR accurately and timely.
• Assists with admissions, meals, specimens, and specimen transport.
• Performs point-of-care testing as trained and reports lab values to RN.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the collection of data related to patient status. Performance of basic nursing procedures. On-going collection and documentation of patient data. Assistance with treatments and procedures. Assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment.

Essential Functions

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene. Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance. May transport patients and assist with walking. Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal. Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated. Removing and reapplying anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
• Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV).
• Takes and records vital signs and with repeating questionable values.
• Prepares patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens. Delivers specimens to appropriate department as requested.
• Completes documentation in EMR in accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves. Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN. Reports lab values to RN.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
