Job Summary

Geisinger is proud to offer a Nursing Assistant a $1500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, with a minimum hiring rate of $15.75, increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts! We are also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Job Duties

  • Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of direct patient care activities and clerical duties, depending on the unit's needs. Tasks should be performed efficiently and timely to support quality care.
  • Meet qualifications to provide care for patients within the specific age range of the clinical area.
  • Provide patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following the multidisciplinary care plan.
  • Identify, observe, and document patient needs and report changes to licensed personnel promptly.
  • Obtain and maintain specimen integrity per policy and physician orders.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and linens.
  • Provide or assist with patient safety watch as assigned.
  • Transport specimens and perform point-of-care testing and maintenance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and supplies.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
  • Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths, facilitating patient throughput.
  • Coordinate transportation for tests and communicate electronically as needed.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and communicate with food services for patient diets.
  • Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment, including scheduling maintenance.
  • Transport non-controlled medications and blood products as needed.

Position Details

  • Full Time, Days/Evenings (36 hours/week)
  • 3 - 12 hour shifts from 7am to 7:30pm
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required

Experience: Minimum 1 year clinical experience preferred

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through AHA
