Job Summary

Geisinger is proud to offer a Nursing Assistant position with a $1500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $15.75, increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. We are also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Job Duties

Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of direct patient care activities and clerical duties, depending on the unit's needs. Tasks should be performed efficiently and timely to enhance the care team's ability to provide quality care. Must meet qualifications to care for patients within their specific age range in the assigned clinical area.

  1. Provide patient care as directed, within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following the multidisciplinary care plan.
  2. Identify, observe, and document patients' physical needs according to standards; report changes to licensed personnel promptly.
  3. Obtain and maintain specimen integrity according to policy, procedure, and physician orders.
  4. Assist with activities of daily living, patient hygiene, and linen changes, ensuring ongoing continuum of care.
  5. Provide one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned, following established policies.
  6. Accurately process and transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
  7. Perform point-of-care testing, instrument maintenance, and quality control.
  8. Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment and supplies.
  9. Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
  10. Perform clerical duties related to admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths; facilitate patient throughput and process orders.
  11. Coordinate transportation of patients for tests and communicate electronically as needed.
  12. Assist in ordering supplies and communicate with food services regarding patient diets.
  13. Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment, scheduling maintenance as needed.
  14. Transport non-controlled medications and blood products as necessary.

Position Details

  • Full Time, Days/Evenings (36 hours/week)
  • 3 - 12 hour shifts from 7 am to 7:30 pm
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required

Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience preferred

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred, issued by the American Heart Association
