Job summary

Cayuga Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to work at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY. You will provide direct patient care, assist with activities of daily living, and support the nurse to ensure safe, compassionate care.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; BLS is provided if needed. The shift is day hours on-site, every other weekend and holidays, 12-hour shifts, with a standard hourly wage of $19.47–$25.75 plus benefits.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care- Toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring and recording intake and output of fluids, recording patient weight, obtaining vital signs, and reporting abnormal findings or changes in the patient’s conditions to the RN.
• Reinforcing education with patients; i.e. incentive spirometer use, and fall prevention.
• Maintaining a clean and organized patient bedside area to ensure a safe workspace.
• Intentionally rounding on each patient every hour.
• Mandatory Orientation Training completion required: one full week of Monday through Friday 8a-4p prior to starting work on the unit.

Nursing Assistants are responsible for working closely with the nurse to provide excellent direct patient care. This person supports activities of daily living (ADL’s) with patients and prevents complications.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard)

• Ability to stoop, kneel or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers
• Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods, as the position may require

Pay Range Disclosure:

• Standard Rate of $19.47 to $25. 75 per hour plus benefits
