Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers at Greensville Correctional Center is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant to provide 24/7 basic care in a secure setting. You will work weekends and rotating shifts, supporting an interdisciplinary team and assisting inmates with ADLs while maintaining safety and accountability.

The role requires a Virginia CNA license (or NNAAP exam scheduled at application) and BLS certification, with strong communication and time‑management skills.

Qualifications

• Virginia CNA license or eligibility via NNAAP exam.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• Knowledge of patient care, personal care techniques, and infection control.
• Ability to take vitals and CPR.
• Ability to intervene in crisis.
• Ability to work in a secure/locked environment.
• Strong communication, initiative, organization and time management.

Responsibilities

• Work weekend and rotating shifts to provide 24/7 medical coverage.
• Provide quality nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with activities of daily living for inmates while maintaining safety and accountability.
• Observe, report, document and communicate interventions, treatments, and needs.
• Assist with mental health and physical care of inmates.
• Assignments to other duties or locations to meet needs.
• Wage position limited to 1,500 hours per agency per year (May 1–April 30).
• No state benefits are provided for this wage position.
