Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Woodwind’s Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This 0.8 FTE position features 8-hour Day shifts (7:00AM - 3:30PM) with an every other weekend and holiday rotation, supporting Med Surg/Ortho 3 South.

You will assist with basic patient care, monitoring, routine tasks, and patient room setup under a nurse's direction, contributing to high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required through Red Cross or AHA-Healthcare Provider; must be able to obtain upon completion of OnTrack program.
• Six months of direct care experience in long-term, home care, or acute care settings.
• Enrollment in an LPN/RN/Nurse Practitioner program with one clinical rotation completed.
• Current MN Nursing Assistant Registry certification upon hire or completion of OnTrack training.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care in collaboration with the care team.
• Assist with grooming, bathing, toileting and feeding.
• Support skin care, dressings, oral hygiene and medication-related tasks.
• Monitor and record weights, inputs/outputs, vitals; operate monitoring equipment.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharge; orient patients to environment.
• Respond to call lights promptly and support patient comfort.

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Woodwind’s Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This position is 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two weeks), working 8 hour shifts on the Day shift (7:00AM - 3:30PM) with an every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) rotation and a holiday rotation.

About this position - Med Surg/Ortho 3 South

• 26 private rooms
• Patient population: total hips, total knees, spine surgeries, shoulder surgeries, general Med/Surg, and general ortho
• Ages 18+
• Patient average length of stay is 1-3 days

The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making.
• Personal grooming, bathing, toileting,
• Feeding,
• Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams,
• Oral hygiene,
• Specimen collection/testing,
• Position/ambulating,
• Changing linens,
• Promptly answers call lights.
• Assists nurse in monitoring patient condition.
• Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation.
• Places patient on/off monitors or equipment.
• Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
• Orients patient/family to environment.
• Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.

Required Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association-Healthcare Provider. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
• AND one of the four following qualifications:
  • (1) Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

OR

• (2) Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program

OR

• (3) Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position

OR

• (4) Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
