Job description

This position is located in the Nursing Department of the LA Veterans Home in Jackson, Louisiana.

This is a Full-Time Position that pays (CNA 1 Special Entrance Rate) $13.74 and (CNA 2 Special Entrance Rate) $14.70 hourly, plus shift differentials and a premium pay of $3.00 per hour worked.

Shift Differential:
  1. Weekdays: $2.50
  2. Weekends: $2.50
  3. Holidays: $2.50
  4. Weekend Holidays: $3.00

Note: The maximum salary listed is the career maximum for this title/level, not the starting pay for new hires.

Vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Nursing Assistant 1/2 depending on experience. Refer to the ‘Job Specifications’ on the LA Careers website for salary ranges and qualifications for each level.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR
  • Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR
  • Completion of an accredited Nursing or Emergency Medical Technician program.

Note: Positions at facilities receiving Medicaid or Medicare funds require a current CNA certificate.

Received: General supervision from registered or licensed practical nurses.

Exercised: None.

Location:

May be used by all state agencies.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from Nursing Assistant 2 by the absence of advanced duties and lead responsibilities.

Differs from Nursing Unit Aide by performing sub-professional nursing duties such as measuring vital signs, assisting with patient care, and maintaining infection control standards.
