Job summary

Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida BOCES is seeking a qualified Nurse Assistant instructor to provide clinical instruction and supervision for 12th grade students in partnership with approved healthcare facilities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with educators, prepare students for NY CNA certification, and integrate literacy and technology into the program while aligning with NYS standards.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered New York State RN license and registration.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in a nursing home caring for elderly and/or chronically ill patients.
• Eligible for New York State Teacher Certification to teach Nursing Assistant; Transitional A Certificate requirements apply.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with colleagues to integrate academics, literacy, and technology within the high school Nursing Assistant program
• Preparing students for the NY Nursing Assistant certification exam, post-secondary education and/or employment as a nursing assistant
• Integrating 21st Century skills, employability skills, and academic standards with the program and with daily instruction
• Networking with hospital and medical staff to establish and monitor student clinical rotations
• Meeting / planning with local industry advisory committee for continuous improvement of the program

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of educators to provide clinical instruction and clinical supervision at approved healthcare facilities as part of the Nursing Assistant program for 12th graders.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Collaborating with colleagues to integrate academics, literacy, and technology within the high school Nursing Assistant program
• Preparing students for the NY Nursing Assistant certification exam, post-secondary education and/or employment as a nursing assistant.
• Integrating 21st Century skills, employability skills, and academic standards with the program and with daily instruction

• Current, unencumbered New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license and registration or
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in a nursing home caring for elderly and/or chronically ill patients
• Eligible for New York State Teacher Certification to teach Nursing Assistant. Candidates applying for a Transitional A Certificate must possess at least the minimum requirements per NYS Education which is a combination of experience in the field, education, and required workshops and tests.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Teaching experience preferred.
