New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Oxford is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide skilled care to veterans and dependents in a 2nd shift setting. You will assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, transfers, ROM, ostomy care, and daily living activities as part of the health care team.

The position is temporary, full-time (Grade 8). Current NY CNA certification is required; geriatric experience preferred.

• Assist residents with transfers, mobility, and range of motion to prevent contractures.
• Care for ostomies and colostomy/ileostomy; monitor and record fluid intake and nutrition.
• Support the health care team in treatments and observations and assist with daily living activities.

Description

The Certified Nursing Assistant will provide skilled care to the veterans and their dependents who reside at our facility, such as but not limited to: bathing, dressing, feeding, general hygiene, transferring residents, care of ostomies, colostomy & ileostomy, maintenance of individual range of motion to prevent contractures, recognizing and reporting abnormal signs and symptoms of common conditions/diseases, measuring and recording fluid intake, and assisting the health care team in treatments and observations, along with all aspects of daily living care.

Qualifications

Current New York Certification as a Nursing Assistant.

Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Oxford employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Assistant Certified, Grade 8.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a geriatric setting

Float position, not designated to a specific unit/neighborhood.

The work hours for the second position are 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Temporary, non-competitive, full-time appointment.

Posted salary range ($51,793 - $55,981) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 8, plus a geographic pay differential of $4,000.

If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.
