Job summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant at the New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Batavia will deliver skilled care to residents, including bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, transfers, ostomy care, ROM maintenance, and daily living support. The role involves teamwork with the health care staff to observe and document patient conditions and respond to needs promptly.

Minimum qualifications include NYS Certified Nursing Assistant certification; reassignment possible for current NYSDOH

Qualifications

• Reassignment: NYSDOH Veterans Home at Batavia employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Assistant Certified.
• Non-Competitive: possession of current certification as a New York State Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Preferred Qualifications: long-term care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled care such as bathing, dressing, feeding, general hygiene, and transferring residents.
• Care for ostomies (colostomy & ileostomy) and maintain range of motion to prevent contractures.
• Recognize and report abnormal signs and symptoms of common conditions and diseases.
• Measure and record fluid intake; assist the health care team with treatments and observations.
• Support all aspects of daily living care for residents.

One permanent, non-competitive, full-time appointment.

The posted salary range includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for CSEA Grade 8 ($51,025 - $62,699), plus an additional geographic pay differential of $4,150.

If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.
