Job summary

New York State Department of Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide skilled care for Veterans in the Home, including bathing, feeding, hygiene and transfers. Responsibilities include ostomy care, ROM, fluid intake tracking, and supporting treatments.

Evening shifts are available with alternate weekends off. Competitive salary with geographic pay differentials and a strong benefits package are included.

Qualifications

  • Current New York Certification as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health St. Albans' employees with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Assistant Certified, Grade 8.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a Long-Term Care Facility.

May accompany the transport of residents to outside appointments.

Minimum Qualifications

Current New York Certification as a Nursing Assistant.

Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health St. Albans' employees with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Assistant Certified, Grade 8.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a Long-Term Care Facility.

Additional Comments

Evening shifts are available with alternate weekends off.

Multiple permanent, competitive full-time appointments.

Posted salary range ($55,735 - $59,743) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 8, plus a geographic pay differential of $6,000 in addition to $4,000 of Downstate Adjustment.

If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.

This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
