Job summary

Essentia Health Sandstone is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. You will support hygiene, nutrition, and comfort, while maintaining safety and documentation standards on the unit.

The role includes patient transfers, vital signs, and clerical tasks to help the team operate smoothly. A 0.6 FTE schedule may include day/evening/night shifts and potential remote/hybrid options.

Qualifications

• 6 months Nursing Assistant experience required.
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program.
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program.
• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry.

Responsibilities

• Providing personal hygiene care.
• Assisting with nutritional needs.
• Providing comfort care and other assistance.
• Appropriately and safely transferring patients.
• Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping.
• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.
• Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Organizes and implements the non-nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow, enhance unit productivity, and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Promotes efficient unit function and indirect resident care.
• Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling

Education and Qualifications

• Must meet one of the following requirements:
  • 6 months of nursing assistant experience
  • Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program

Licensure / Certification

• BLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date
