Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY, part of Centralus Health, is hiring a Nursing Assistant for the Surgical Stay unit. You will provide direct patient care, assist with activities, monitor vitals, and report findings to the RN in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; BLS will be provided if needed, and NYS CNA certification is preferred. Shift is three 12-hour days, with some weekends.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care- Toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring and recording intake and output of fluids, recording patient weight, obtaining vital signs, and reporting abnormal findings or changes in the patient's conditions to the RN.
• Reinforcing education with patients; i.e. incentive spirometer use, and fall prevention.
• Maintaining a clean and organized patient bedside area to ensure a safe workspace.
• Intentionally rounding on each patient every hour.
• Mandatory Orientation Training completion required: one full week of Monday through Friday 8a-4p prior to starting work on the unit.

Required Skills And Experience

• High school or equivalent experience
• BLS- will be provided if needed

Preferred Skills And Experience

• NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA)
• Previous patient care experience

Physical Requirements

• Frequent hand and finger use (e.g. to operate a computer keyboard).
• Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g. boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
• Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Location and Shift Information

• Location: Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850
• Shift: Three 12-hour shifts 7am - 7pm per week, rotating weekends and holidays
• 0% Travel can be expected in this role

Pay Range Disclosure

• Standard Rate of $19.47 - $25.75 per hour plus benefits
