Job summary

Cayuga Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant for Cayuga Medical Center ICU on a per diem basis. You will provide direct patient care, assist with toileting, ambulation and daily activities, monitor patients, and report findings to the RN, while maintaining a clean, safe bedside area.

Onsite at 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY, shifts require a minimum of 72 hours per 8-week cycle. Pay range $19.47–$25.75 per hour plus benefits; BLS is provided if needed; NYS CNA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent experience.
• BLS will be provided if needed.
• NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) preferred.

Nursing Assistant - Cayuga Medical Center ICU - Per Diem

Roles and Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care—Toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring and recording intake and output of fluids, recording patient weight, obtaining vital signs, and reporting abnormal findings or changes in the patient's conditions to the RN. Reinforcing education with patients; i.e. incentive spirometer use, and fall prevention. Maintaining a clean and organized patient bedside area to ensure a safe workspace. Intentionally rounding on each patient every hour.

Mandatory Orientation Training

Completion required: one full week of Monday through Friday 8a-4p prior to starting work on the unit.

Required Skills and Experience

High school or equivalent experience BLS- will be provided if needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience

NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) Previous patient care experience.

Physical Requirements

Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard). Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require. Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Location and Shift Information

Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850. Shift: Minimum of 72 hours per 8-week schedule. 0% Travel can be expected in this role.

Pay Range Disclosure

Standard Rate of $19.47 - $25.75 per hour plus benefits.
