Job summary

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant to join our hospital team. The role involves 12‑hour day and evening shifts, with every 3rd weekend rotations, supporting Medical/Surgical and Pediatrics units.

You will perform CNA duties, provide direct patient care, assist with mobility and daily activities, and work under RN supervision to ensure quality patient experiences. We value teamwork, patient-centered care, and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Graduate of a Nursing Aide program; Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry preferred.
• BLS Certification or ability to obtain within two months of hire.
• Experience in an ambulatory or inpatient healthcare setting with ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrates adherence to Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital Mission, Values, Vision and policies.
• Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and assists with unit needs during regular rounds.
• Answers call lights promptly and communicates needed patient interventions.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient, visitor and staff information.
• Assists with transfers, ambulation, feeding, dressing, bathing, weighing and toileting.
• Transports patients and delivers specimens and supplies.
• Reports significant events and actions to the RN promptly.
• Ensures safety devices and mobility alarms are used correctly and reported.
• Attends required in-services and staff meetings and follows department policies.

About the Position

Job Summary:

The Nursing Assistant serves the hospital patient population by assisting to provide direct patient care which meets the assigned unit needs through regular rounding. The House Supervisor/Nurse Director may re-assign to other units based on changes of volumes and acuity.

Here's what you'll do when you join us:

• Demonstrates a professional and compassionate attitude towards patients, families, visitors, coworkers and other departmental representatives.
• Demonstrates a positive, welcoming and helpful attitude towards all individuals who enter or contact the department.
• Answers patients' call lights promptly and communicates/completes needed patient intervention.
• Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent information to ensure patient, visitor and employee rights are protected.
• Handles all organizational information in a manner that ensures strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as directed to include: transfers, ambulation, feeding, dressing, bathing, weighing, and toileting.
• Transports or assists with the transporting of patients.
• Promptly delivers specimens and supplies within the hospital.
• Reports significant events and actions promptly to the RN.
• Applies monitors and reports to the RN the effectiveness of any safety device and/or mobility alarm.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with hospital safety, disaster and emergency procedures.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment as needed and assists in keeping unit clean and organized.
• Attends required in-services and staff meetings.
• Understands and adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
• Care is delivered with adherence to the policies and procedures of Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.
• Performs and demonstrates competency for all CNA responsibilities for patient care.
• Perform other related dutes as required. This is not all-inclusive and any other task or job may be assigned in the future.

2. Graduate of a Nursing Aide program. Certification and current listing on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry preferred.
3. BLS Certification or ability to obtain within two months of hire and maintains certification.
4. Experience in an ambulatory or inpatient health care setting with ability to multi-task and manage multiple patient/family/nursing/physician priorities within short time frames preferred.
5. Demonstrated ability to adhere to and follow Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital Mission, Values, Vision and policies.
6. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
