Job summary

Médicos Sin Fronteras en México A.C. seeks a Nursing Activity Manager to lead nursing operations in international humanitarian missions.

The role ensures daily management of nursing care, adherence to MSF protocols, and coordination with pharmacy and biomedical services across project sites. The position requires at least 2 years of nursing experience in multi‑purpose hospital settings, English proficiency (B1/B2) and willingness to work in challenging field environments.

Qualifications

• Nursing diploma for general or specialized health services (Bachelor in science of Nursing desirable).
• Desirable diploma in tropical medicine.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a hospital with multi‑purpose activities.
• Polyvalent clinical experience: tropical medicine, internal medicine, ER, pediatrics, neonatology, ICU, geriatrics, surgery.
• Desirable work experience with MSF and other NGOs in developing countries.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize all nursing activities (IPD, OPD, maternity, nutrition) and define annual planning and budget.
• Coordinate and supervise implementation of legal therapeutic protocols and standards; provide technical support as needed.
• Supervise nutritional activities to ensure therapeutic food quality and quantity.
• Ensure administration procedures and documents are used correctly (patient cards, discharge papers, etc.).
• Coordinate with Pharmacist and Medco on pharmacy activity; supervise stock and expiration terms.
• In coordination with biomedical service, supervise proper use of medical devices and future needs.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

Defining, coordinating and monitoring all care and nursing related activities in the project and ensuring the daily management of the human resources, according to MSF nursing protocols, standards and procedures, in order to warrant efficiency , quality and continuity of prescribed care

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning and organizing all nursing related activities (IPD, OPD, maternity, nutrition, etc.) and participating in the definition of annual planning and update of its associated budget in order to efficiently maintain the continuity of the standard quality healthcare. When needed, being responsible for scheduling duty rosters, shifts and on call of nursing staff.
• Coordinating and supervising the implementation of the legal therapeutic protocols, procedures and standards, depending on project objectives (PPTCT, PEP, VCT, IEC, SGBV, MH services, etc.) and providing technical support when needed, to ensure the quality of the nursing care, confidentiality and information traceability, patient surveillance, and the application of the therapeutic and sterilization rules by the health care personnel.
• Supervising the nutritional activities in order to ensure that therapeutic food is provided regularly and that it complies with quality and quantity standards
• Ensuring all administrative procedures and documents (individual patient’s card and registration book, discharge paper, transfer paper, etc.) and existing data management tools are used correctly
• According to MSF protocols and in collaboration with the Pharmacist and Medco, supervising the distribution (according to medical prescriptions) and pharmacy activity, preparing new orders when required, supervising expiration terms and consumption patterns, in order to ensure that pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated and above minimum safety point.
• In coordination with the project biomedical service supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating and communicating future needs.

PROFILE

Education and formation

• Essential nursing diploma for general or specialized health services (Bachelor in science of Nursing Desirable)
• Desirable diploma in tropical medicine

Experience

• Essential: minimum 2 years practicing as Nurse for a hospital developing multi-purpose activities
• Polyvalent clinical experience: in tropical medicine, internal medicine, ER, pediatrics, neonatology, intensive care, geriatrics, surgery, etc.
• Desirable work experience with MSF and other NGOs in developing countries

Languages

• English as primary language (B1 or B2 level minimum)
• Knowledge of French will be an asset

POSITION CONDITIONS

Work Venue: Where the needs of the project require it

Profits: Approximate gross monthly remuneration starts in USD $2,300 and may increase according to related experience. Private insurance coverage that includes medical coverage and hospital, temporary disability and life insurance. The organization also has an arranged medical evacuation if necessary. The expenses of stay in the land are covered: housing, basic services, cleaning and washing. Other expenses such as transportation, visas, transfer to the country of destination and Displacements in the field will also be covered by MSF.

Duration: Minimum 6 months

Working day: Full time
