Job summary

Snapper Creek Nursery is seeking a Nursery Laborer to assist in planting, fertilizing, weeding, pruning, repotting, watering, and mulching plants, shrubs, and trees. You will also help load and unload plants from trailers and keep work areas clean and well-maintained.

Attention to safety is required; basic maintenance of irrigation and climate control systems may be needed. A high school diploma is preferred, and prior plant care experience is a plus; on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Some prior plant care experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• Prolonged walking/standing and ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Please note safety rules apply.

Responsibilities

• Plant care including fertilizing, weeding, pruning, repotting, watering, and mulching.
• Assist with loading and unloading plants to/from trailers.
• Maintain clean work areas, grounds, and landscaping.
• Ensure irrigation and climate control systems function; perform basic maintenance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Plants, fertilizes, weeds, prunes, repots, waters, and mulches plants, shrubs, and trees in the nursery using hand and gardening tools.

Assists with loading and unloading plants to/from trailers

Maintains clean work areas, grounds, and landscaping.

Ensures the irrigation and climate control systems are working properly; performs basic maintenance and repairs.

Follows all safety rules and regulations; attends safety meetings

Required Skills/Abilities:

Good verbal communication skills with coworkers and supervisors; English or Spanish

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Some prior experience with plant care preferred, on-the-job training provided.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of walking, standing, lifting, and moving items.

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.

Must be able to push, pull, bend, lift, stretch, and climb in order to care for plants and arrange them within the nursery.
