Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist is seeking a Nurse Technician for the Psychiatry 6South unit. This full-time evening shift (3:30PM–midnight) supports patients and families under RN supervision, delivering compassionate care and helping maintain a safe, healing environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of a Nurse Technician/Patient Care Technician program or nursing assistant program, and current BCLS certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum one-year experience as Nurse Technician, Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient focus under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Perform select care duties to support patient comfort and safety.
• Assist with keeping the unit clean, safe and well organized to maintain a positive patient experience.
• Demonstrate teamwork and contribute to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.

This position is a full-time evening shift (3:30PM-midnight) located at New York-Presbyterian\Brooklyn Methodist, 3 weekends a month required.

Preferred Criteria

• Minimum one-year experience as Nurse Technician, Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting

Required Criteria

• High school diploma or GED

• Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Technician/Patient Care Technician Program or Nursing Assistant, EKG, and Phlebotomy Program or Medical Assistant Program, with documentation of completion

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification American Heart Association

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift, move, and position patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis including dexterity of fingers, hands, arms and feet with sensory requirements of speech, touch, vision and hearing to normal range with corrections.
