Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO invites nursing students in an approved program to join as a Nurse Tech on a part-time, PRN schedule.

Under supervision, you will assist in individualized patient care, work with a collaborative team, and perform selected clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks essential to patient care. Candidates should provide transcripts showing Fundamentals of Nursing and maintain good standing with their nursing program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; enrolled in approved nursing program and transcripts showing Fundamentals of Nursing.
• Must remain in good standing with school while in role; nursing students only.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under RN/LPN supervision; support a team and contribute to group goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma, G.E.D. and enrolled in an approved or accredited nursing program.
• Prior to employment, the nurse tech shall provide student transcripts indicating they have completed Fundamentals of Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and provide competency skills list from their learning institution.
• The nurse tech must remain in good standing with their school of nursing while in this role. This program is for nursing students only, if a student leaves a program for any reason, they can no longer be a nurse tech.

Certification(s)

• BLS Required within one month of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• EMT, Paramedic or Previous Patient Care Experience

Certification(s)

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• Certified Patient Care Tech (CPCT)
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice.
