Job summary

Ashley Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Technician for PRN/Days to support patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and help maintain clean, organized patient areas while supporting nursing staff and tech desk operations.

Education includes a high school diploma; SRNA or EMT preferred. BCLS required; Handle with Care preferred. Includes comprehensive benefits and shift differential.

Qualifications

  • Good critical thinking and quick decision-making in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Ability to learn and navigate multiple software systems.
  • Excellent English communication skills (read/write/speak).
  • Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Job Title: Nurse Technician

Department/Unit Summary

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), performs basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. Assists with activities of daily living, routine monitoring, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment; supports nursing/physician staff and tech desk operations. Reports to the Director or Manager of the Department.

Essential Functions
  • Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
  • Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
  • Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
  • Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
  • Documents care and activities per unit standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.

Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure: Occupational exposure may be present for all employees in this role.

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboard entry, repetitive movements, kneeling, and lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Near/far vision and depth perception are frequent/constant; color distinction is frequent.

Environmental Exposures: Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, communicable diseases/pathogens, dust, gases/vapors/fumes, and hazardous chemicals/medications; latex exposure is frequent.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: High School diploma preferred.

License: SRNA or EMT preferred.

Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required; Handle with Care preferred.

Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
