Job summary

Ashley Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Technician for full-time night shifts to support patient care under an RN. This role involves monitoring vitals, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring a clean, well-stocked unit environment.

You will work closely with nursing staff, maintain documentation, and participate in ongoing education and quality initiatives to improve patient throughput and safety.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • BCLS certification required; Handle with Care preferred.
  • SRNA or EMT preferred license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and intake/output.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
  • Observe and report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
  • Keep patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and stocked.
  • Manage the tech desk; support nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
  • Document care and activities per unit standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement and required education; perform other duties as assigned.

Nurse Technician – Full Time, Night Shifts

Department/Unit Summary

Nurse Technician Position Summary – Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, perform basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. Assist with activities of daily living, routine monitoring, and maintaining a clean, well‑stocked environment; support nursing/physician staff and tech desk operations. Report to the Director or Manager of the Department.

Essential Functions
  • Perform basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
  • Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
  • Keep patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
  • Manage the tech desk; support nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
  • Document care and activities per unit standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement and required education; perform other duties as assigned.

  • Protected Health Information accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens exposure: Occupational exposure may be present for all employees in this role.
  • Physical requirements: Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboard entry, repetitive movements, kneeling, and lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Near/far vision and depth perception are frequent/constant; color distinction is frequent.
  • Environmental exposures: Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, communicable diseases/pathogens, dust, gases/vapors/fumes, and hazardous chemicals/medications; latex exposure is frequent.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma preferred.
  • License: SRNA or EMT preferred.
  • Certifications: BCLS required; Handle with Care preferred.
  • Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
