Job summary

Corewell Health is hiring a Nurse Technician for the Reed City Hospital Med Surg Care Unit. This part-time night-shift position (7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) entails assisting RNs with vitals, daily patient care, and basic procedures in a diverse medical-surgical patient population.

Responsibilities include preparing rooms, helping with patient mobility, wound care, and ensuring patient safety. A High School Diploma and BLS certification are required within 90 days of hire; benefits and on-demand pay

Responsibilities

• Take vitals and check blood sugars.
• Bed bathing and assisting with ambulation.
• Wound care and catheterization assistance.
• Act as safety attendant for patients.
• Maintain a clean patient environment and report equipment issues.
• Protect patient and staff privacy and confidentiality.

About the unit

Big Rapids Campus has a 22 bed medical surgical unit and a 4 bed critical care unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population in Big Rapids is very diverse, it consists of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. Big Rapids has a well-established team that works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse techs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care for our patients

Scope of work

Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.

Cleans patient's environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel. Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
