Job summary

Corewell Health’s 1H ICU at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking a Nursing Technician for night shifts. You will support RNs and Providers, perform basic patient care, and assist with ICU tasks to deliver safe, compassionate care.

You will gain exposure to ICU procedures, be involved in vitals, wound care, catheterization, and meticulous charting. BLS is required within 90 days, and the role is part-time with 24 hours weekly, nights.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year of direct patient care experience STRONGLY preferred.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days.

About the unit

1H is a 22 bed adult critical care unit at Blodgett Hospital. 1H cares for medical ICU patients as well as some surgical ICU patients. As a team member on 1H, you will see a wide variety of different ages and types of diagnoses and participate in many different types of ICU level care. Some of those diagnoses include stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and respiratory failure. You will get to learn about ventilators, sedation, paralytics, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), post cardiac arrest cooling, ICU thrombolytic therapy, and much more!

Scope of work

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
