Job summary

Siena Hospital, part of St. Rose Dominican Siena, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) in Surgery to deliver compassionate, high-quality care within a fast-paced operating room.

You will perform skilled procedures, develop patient care plans, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes. Requirements include OR experience, Nevada RN license, and current AHA certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS) plus quarterly RQI competency post-hire.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of general operating room experience as an RN or hospital approved peri-operative course.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Active RN license in good standing with the Nevada State Board of Nursing
  • American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) RQI competency certification post-hire.

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial patient assessment and reassessments as indicated by patient condition, and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking by implementing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • Has the physical ability to safely and effectively care for patient population assigned and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • Manages medication administration and intravenous (IV) access according to physician's orders and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • Has communication abilities sufficient to promote patient and family centered care by interacting with patients, families, and care-delivery team in verbal and written form and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.

This position is represented by CNA and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Job Requirements
Required
  • One (1) year of general operating room experience as an RN or hospital approved peri-operative course. May consider any experience in an ASC (ambulatory surgery centers) where procedures are performed that have the same acuity level or level of complexity as an acute care facility
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Active RN license in good standing with the Nevada State Board of Nursing
  • American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements
