Job summary

Siena Hospital, part of Dignity Health Nevada, is seeking a Surgical Tech to join a critical care team in Henderson. The role supports safe, efficient procedures by preparing the OR, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field.

Ideal candidates have NBSTSA certification or grandfathering rights and a commitment to ongoing education and patient safety within a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

  • 1 year recent full-time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist.
  • Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center with similar acuity/complexity accepted.
  • Graduate from high school or equivalent program.
  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program with certification.
  • Surgical Technology training with 15 continuing education units yearly as required by NBSTSA.
  • CT CPRBLS - Basic Life Support - AHA.
  • CT ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA.
  • Grandfathered NBSTSA exemption for pre-2018 hires where applicable.
  • Location requires quarterly AHA RQI competency post-hire.

  • Prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) and assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs.
  • Pass instruments and maintain the sterile field.
  • Count items, handle specimens, and assist with patient positioning.

As our Surgical Tech, you'll be an integral surgical team member, providing skilled assistance for safe, efficient procedures critical to patient outcomes. Every day you will prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) and assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field. You'll count items, handle specimens, assist with patient positioning, and adhere strictly to aseptic technique. To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong sterile technique knowledge, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and a steadfast commitment to patient safety are essential.

Minimum
Job Requirements
  • One (1) year recent full-time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist.
  • May consider any experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center where procedures are performed that have the same acuity level or level of complexity as an acute care facility.
  • Graduate from high school or equivalent program.
  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program to include certification.
  • Surgical Technology training - Earns 15 units of continued education every year as required by NBSTSA.
  • CT CPRBLS - Basic Life Support - AHA
  • CT ORT = Certified Surgical Technologist Nat’l. The Certified Surgical Technologist certification must be provisioned through the NBSTSA.
  • Current employees, hired in this position before January 1, 2018, have been grandfathered and are exempt from the requirement to obtain NBSTSA certification.
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
Preferred
  • One year recent fulltime experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist, to include experience with trauma and open heart. Must be certified.
  • CST certification provisioned through the NBSTSA preferred, but may be grandfathered in compliance with current Nevada Revised Statutes.
